About the Conference



The 2nd International Columbia Coaching Program Conference, held from October 19–21, 2016, at Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City, centered on the theme “The Future of Coaching: Building Bridges and Expanding Boundaries.” This biannual event convened a global community of scholar-practitioners, researchers, educators, and talent development professionals to explore the evolving landscape of executive and organizational coaching.


The conference featured a diverse program, including 20 concurrent sessions with 18 paper presentations, four coaching demonstrations, eight experiential learning sessions, and four panel discussions. Topics addressed included integrating theory and practice, bridging internal and external coaching roles, and expanding the boundaries of coaching into new organizational and cultural contexts. 


Notable sessions included a keynote by David Peterson on reinventing executive coaching and TED-style talks showcasing cutting-edge research from Columbia University faculty. The event concluded with a reflective session moderated by Dr. Terrence E. Maltbia, emphasizing participants' visions and commitments to the future of coaching.
