Dr Etienne van der Walt is a neurologist, thought leader, and founder in the field of integrative neurobiology and human performance. With over three decades of experience across clinical neurology, neuroscience innovation, and systems leadership, Etienne brings a rare depth of knowledge to the intersection of brain science, resilience, and living systems thinking.

Etienne practiced as a clinical neurologist for 14 years in South Africa, the UK, and the Netherlands, gaining deep expertise in the anatomy, biology, and physiology of the human brain and nervous system. For the past 15 years, he has dedicated his career to understanding how neurobiology can be applied to leadership, team effectiveness, and human capacity building. His work bridges the clinical and the systemic—offering powerful insights into how individuals, teams, and organizations function as living systems.

In 2011, Etienne founded Neurozone®, a neuroscience-based performance company that applies predictive analytics, behavioral science, and coaching to optimize resilience and capacity in leadership and organizational contexts. He also founded AmazingBrainz™, which designs early brain stimulation programs for children in disadvantaged communities.

Etienne’s topics of interest include High-Performance Resilience, Adaptive Intelligence (especially its relevance to AI), and Leadership as a biological force for group wellbeing. Known for his ability to simplify complex concepts, Etienne is a sought-after keynote speaker and masterclass facilitator who works with senior leaders and teams around the world.

In addition to his Medical and Clinical Neurology degrees, Etienne also holds a BSc degree in Chemistry and Mathematical Statistics, as well as a BMedSc degree in Integrated Physiology and Virology.
